Founded in January 2020 by Amy Ewbank and Maddy Berry, The Doll’s Eye Charity, Doll’s Eye Trust was formed.

Doll’s Eye Trust will build on the work of Doll’s Eye Theatre, by creating theatrical works through public performance and public discussion with an aim to instigate social change through theatre, playwriting and dramatic arts.

Prior to becoming a registered Charity, Doll’s Eye Theatre was funded by Durham Law School, to create a piece of educational theatre and in collaboration with Rape Crisis South London (RASASC) and Purple Drum (Imkaan).

Might Never Happen was inspired by the research of Dr. Fiona Vera-Gray and Dr. Maria Garner. The production highlighted the impact of street harassment on young women and girls and challenged harmful gender stereotypes affecting young women and men. It was designed to raise the issue of public sexual harassment safely, whilst promoting discussion and awareness.

The show and accompanying workshop was fully funded and delivered free of charge to schools and other youth settings in London and the North-East. Teachers received a detailed resource pack containing follow on lesson plans and suggested exercises.

Doll’s Eye delivered to 11 U.K. Schools and Colleges, reaching more than 1300 young people.

Might Never Happen was a collaborative writing experience, written by Doll's Eye Theatre Founding Company Members Amy Ewbank, Vicki Welles, Kirsty Osmon, Catherine Deevy and Danielle Nott, adapted by Artistic Director Amy Ewbank for the 2017 Education Tour with contributions from Purple Drum, The Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre, Dr. Maria Garner, and Dr. Fiona Vera-Gray.

Prior to the education tour, the production was showcased at The King’s Head Theatre in London, with a post show Q&A featuring academics, journalists, researchers and experts in the field of women’s rights.
